Well, the first day of Otafest is over! Wasn’t that much to do as it was a short little affair this evening. Me and two buddies went early to register and still had to wait about 20-30 minutes in line. There were a ton of people there who were all preregistering. We figure they all wanted to register early to hit the vendor room right off the bat tomorrow morning! Don’t blame them - that’s exactly what we plan to do!
and only 28 hours till the start of Otafest! This weekend will be a serious geek out - I have a bunch of friends coming over and we’re going to hit the local anime festival at the University of Calgary and then hang out at my place when we’re not there. I’ve been getting ready for this since last weekend through various means: I built an HTPC (more on that in a later post) for watching hi-def stuff (the ol’ Xbox and XBMC don’t quite cut it anymore, and the 360 is gimped codec wise) and bought a second guitar for Rock Band for my 360 (wireless from Future Shop for $59.99). So we’ll be ready for rocking out.
So, it’s Mother’s Day and I’m posting this at 2 in the morning… I’ll be nice and awake when Halo and I head out for breakfast with my parents at ninish! Dad’s heading off to Houston for work related stuff later, so we’re all going to meet up for breakfast at Ricky’s. Should be good - Halo says they still have their Ginormous Waffle meal going. Last time we went I ordered it and was very impressed - waffle, bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, toast. All for 10 bucks. Hard to beat that for breakfast.
They warned us the other day that the OpenForum might have some problems that night as they did some upgrades to the software, but they never mentioned the after effects… service not available, flood protection and 503 errors abound. It sucks as it means I’m deprived of the GESC and its inhabitants; a vital and balanced part of my daily diet. Damnit eve, are you trying to increase my productivity?!
Well, I’m testing out this whole Wordpress/blog thinger. I have no clue what I’m doing but I’m sure I’ll learn it as I go.
